HPA eases online appointment system for vaccination

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has allocated a special web address for online registration for the second dose of the Covishield vaccine in an effort to ease the process.

HPA said an appointment to get the Covishield vaccine can be obtained from book.hpa.gov.mv for all residents in the Greater Male' Region. HPA said bookings will first be opened for those who got their first dose of the Covishield vaccine last February or March. An identification card and a mobile number are required when booking an appointment, said HPA.

Individuals are required to select the preferred vaccination centre, appointment date, and time. HPA has advised all individuals to be present at the vaccination centre 15 minutes before the scheduled appointment with the vaccine card and an identification card.

Further, HPA stated the booking will be cancelled if the scheduled appointment is missed and the individual will have to book a new appointment for a different date. HPA noted further assistance with booking appointments will be provided from 1676.

The second dose of the Covishield vaccines will be administered at the Social Centre, Islamic Centre, National Art Gallery, and Hulhumale' Vaccination Centre. Maldives began its COVID-19 vaccination programme on February 1 with the first 100,000 doses of the Covishield vaccine donated by the Government of India. A large part of the Maldivian population has now received the first dose of the Covishield vaccine. However, HPA suspended the rollout of Covishield in May due to decreasing stocks of the vaccine in the Maldives.
