Maldives National Association of Construction Industry (MNACI) has met with Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation Aishath Nahula to discuss the challenges faced by the construction sector in relation to traffic.
The meeting was held at the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation on October 29. The meeting was attended by MNACI President Mohamed Ali Janah and board members of the association.
Speaking to PSM News, MNACI President Janah said the meeting with Transport Minister Nahula focused on the disruption of traffic near construction sites in the Male’ Region. As such, he noted discussions were held on placing a flagman near construction site to guide and control traffic.
Furthermore, Janah said MNACI shared concerns regarding the transport of materials and workers across different locations. Noting expatriate workers make up a large percentage of construction workers in the Maldives, Janah said discussions were held on what the transport ministry can do in facilitating transport of workers across different locations in the country. He added the issues regarding parking of vehicles in front of construction sites, and unloading of vehicles were also discussed during the meeting.
