The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Band held a special event in Utheemu, Haa Alif Atoll, as part of this year’s National Day celebrations.
The event was organised as part of the official National Day celebrations and was open to the public.
Held this afternoon in the harbour area of Utheemu, the event featured the MNDF Band performing a variety of songs and musical arrangements that helped create a strong sense of national spirit. Large numbers of residents, along with visitors who had travelled to the island for National Day, gathered at the harbour to watch the performance.
Special attention was given to children during the event. They were given the opportunity to take photographs with members of the band while they were in uniform, while MNDF personnel also distributed gifts to children who attended.
Such events are important in promoting unity and strengthening national pride among the public during National Day celebrations. The band’s event in Utheemu concluded with strong support and a warm reception from the island’s residents.
A number of other activities have also been held in Utheemu to mark National Day. A fireworks display was held last night, while the official National Day ceremony took place this morning. Stage performances are also scheduled to take place tonight.
