President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has assured that the Government will work to remove obstacles to Utheemu’s development and find solutions to the challenges facing the island.
The President made the remarks during a meeting with members of the Utheemu Island Council, the Women’s Development Committee and heads of institutions.
During the meeting, held at the Utheemu Council Secretariat, the council shared with the President several challenges and concerns related to the island’s development. The council expressed hope that work on the island’s harbour and Bandhaara Mosque would begin as soon as possible.
The council also sought clarification on the status of work on the State House and requested the early completion of the futsal ground, volleyball court and the new building of the Utheemu Council Secretariat.
The council further brought to the President’s attention the challenges faced by the Utheemu Health Centre due to a shortage of nurses, as well as the extent of its staffing difficulties.
Responding to the matters raised by the council, President Dr Muizzu said he would closely examine the issues highlighted. He assured that the Government would work to remove the obstacles to the island’s development and find solutions to the concerns raised.
Ministers accompanying the President at the meeting also shared with the council the latest updates on projects currently underway in Utheemu.
