MTCC reports over 13,000 trips through Male’ Taxi Line

The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has revealed that more than 13,000 trips have been completed through the Male’ Taxi Line since the service was launched.

The Male’ Taxi Line was established under a decree issued by President Mohamed Muizzu as a solution to the shortage of available taxis in the Greater Male’ area.

MTCC stated that 13,073 trips were completed between 18 April and 9 May. This included 9,395 trips within Male’, 429 trips to Velana International Airport (VIA), 1,966 trips to Hulhumale’ Phase One and 1,283 trips to Hulhumale’ Phase Two. According to MTCC, the service has so far been used by a total of 9,550 customers.

The taxi fleet includes vehicles of three different sizes, all of which are fully electric and environmentally friendly. Rides can be booked at any time. To support the service, 150 electric vehicles manufactured by Changan Automobile Group were imported.

The Male’ Taxi Line was officially inaugurated by President Muizzu during a ceremony held at Central Park on 2 April.

MTCC stated that rides can be booked through the company’s website or by calling the hotline number 1655. Fares are charged in accordance with rates set by the Ministry of Economic Development, Transport and Trade.
