Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has been awarded the contract to build multi-sports complexes in the Greater Male’ Region.
The agreement was signed by Minister of Sports, Fitness and Recreation Abdulla Rafiu on behalf of the Ministry, and MACL’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed on behalf of the company.
Under the agreement, multi-sports complexes will be built in Villimale’, Hulhumale’ Phase I and Phase II.
It is a presidential pledge of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu to establish fitness and recreation centres in all islands across the Maldives by the end of 2026. Earlier, on 18 August 2025, an agreement was signed between the Sports Ministry and MACL to establish fitness and recreation centres in 63 islands nationwide.
