President-elect Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that his administration will give top priority to upholding Islamic principles and national interests. He made the statement in a press release to mark the day the Maldives embraced Islam.
In the press release, President-elect Muizzu sent his greets to citizens on the 897th anniversary of the conversion of the Maldives to Islam and prayed that the country will always be guided by Islam. He also said that the Maldives has set an example for the world by remaining steadfast as a 100% Islamic country.
Additionally, President-elect Muizzu highlighted that Maldivians are facing challenges ideologically, economically, and strategically and have collectively made the decision to put the interests of the nation first. He, therefore, vowed to make Islam and the interests of the people the top priority during his term in office. He added that his administration will protect the country's independence and sovereignty while maintaining good bilateral relations and upholding the reputation of Maldivians in the international community.
