Ruling party officials sworn into party leadership positions

Members elected to positions within the ruling People’s National Congress (PNC), along with individuals appointed to leadership positions under the party’s constitution, have been sworn into their respective positions.

The newly appointed officials took their oaths during a special session held as part of the PNC Congress. The ceremony was presided over by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu.

The ceremony was attended by members of the PNC leadership, ministers and ministerial-level officials appointed to leadership positions within the party, as well as individuals appointed from among managing directors and chief executive officers of companies. Members elected to the Parliament also took their oaths.

The PNC leadership comprises Parliament Speaker Abdul Raheem Abdulla as the party’s Chairperson; Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef and PNC parliamentary group leader Ibrahim Falah as Deputy Presidents; Moosa Fathuhy Adam as Secretary General; Mohamed Lam’aan as Deputy Secretary General; and Hussain Fahmy as Treasurer.

Six Deputy Presidents elected to the party are Minister of Youth Empowerment, Sports and Fitness Abdulla Raafiu; Minister of Fisheries, Agriculture and Ocean Resources Ahmed Shiyam; Nilandhoo constituency parliamentarian Fathimath Saudha; Baarah constituency parliamentarian Ibrahim Shujaau; Minister of Economic Development, Transport and Trade Mohamed Saeed; and Chief Government Spokesperson Mohamed Hussain Shareef.

Seven members appointed by the party’s President at ministerial and ministerial-level positions are Chief of Staff Abdulla Fayaz; Minister at the President’s Office Abdulla Naseer; Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation Mohamed Ameen; Minister of Health, Family and Welfare Geela Ali; Minister of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development Dr Abdulla Muththalib; Principal Secretary to the President for Tertiary Health Services Mohamed Tholal; and Ambassador of the Maldives to Qatar Adam Shareef Umar.

Three members appointed by the party’s President from among managing directors and chief executive officers of companies are CEO of Male' City Group of Hospitals Abdulla Razzaq Haleem, HDC Managing Director Ali Zuhair and FDC Managing Director Hamdaan Shakeel.

In addition to these members, PNC members elected to the Parliament, senior officials of the party’s women’s and youth wings, and individuals elected through party elections to various positions and constituencies of the steering committees also took their oaths.
