Vice President Faisal Naseem has toured Velana International Airport (VIA) to check its operations.
During his tour, Vice President Naseem spoke with airport employees and inquired about their work and the obstacles they encounter on a daily basis. He also met with senior officials from Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), Maldives Customs Service, and Maldives Immigration during his tour.
The senior officials briefed him on their issues and the efforts they are making to improve their services in order to accommodate the current surge in passenger numbers. Vice President Naseem urged them to diligently follow the guidelines from Health Protection Agency (HPA) to deal with the present COVID-19 situation. The vice president also emphasised prioritising emergency situations that the airport must deal with. He further stressed the importance of working together to achieve efficient results and meet the goal set for passenger arrivals in the Maldives.
During his visit, the vice president had a tour of the domestic terminal and talked with the authorities. He also went on a tour of the newly constructed CIP and VIP area, which is close to being completed.
