The President’s Office has opened applications for the vacant post of member at the Maldives Broadcasting Commission (BroadCom).
The President’s Office opened applications for BroadCom membership following the resignation of Zeena Zahir on October 28. The President’s Office announced the deadline for submitting applications is 1230hrs on November 19.
Zeena Zahir resigned from BroadCom after the Parliamentary Committee on Independent Institutions forwarded the dismissal motion against her to the parliament floor. The dismissal motion was initiated following an inquiry into accusations of taking part in political activities and enabling political influence to dictate her decisions as a member of BroadCom. The committee concluded Zeena had failed to carry out her legal responsibilities as a member of BroadCom.
