Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has warned action if any harm is caused to an individual while travelling without taking necessary precautions.
Speaking to media, regarding a dinghy gone missing while travelling from Maamigili in Alifu Dhaalu Atoll to Feeali with three children onboard, MNDF Coastguard Commander Colonel Mohamed Saleem said in most cases, the incidents are occurred due to the failure to take necessary safety precautions. The dinghy was later located with everyone safely onboard.
Colonel Mohamed Saleem expressed when traveling in small vessels such as dinghies, extra caution is required. Furthermore, MNDF urged to follow the weather alerts and updates issued by Maldives Meteorological Service before commencing any trip.
MNDF advised to always keep lifejackets and other safety equipment onboard advising to refrain from embarking on a trip unless necessary depending on the alerts of Met Office.
