The 34th INFOFISH governing council has commenced in Maldives.
The INFOFISH governing council held in Champa Central Hotel until December 19 is participated by 7 member countries of INFOFISH . The organisation was originally launched in 1981 as a project of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations. Since 1987, it works as an intergovernmental organisation providing marketing information and technical advisory services to the fisheries industry of the Asia-Pacific region and beyond.
Addressing the inauguration ceremony of INFOFISH , Minister of Fisheries, Marine Resources and Agriculture Zaha Waheed highlighted Maldives attaches high importance in developing the fisheries sector as it is a major pillar of the economy of Maldives. In this regard, she shed light on the value-adding process and maricultural development works.
INFOFISH consists of 13 member countries.
