Chairman of Chiefs of Staff Committee and Chief of Army Staff of India General Bipin Rawat has called on Minister of Foreign Affairs of Maldives Abdulla Shahid.
During the meeting held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Minister Shahid welcomed General Rawat to Maldives and underscored the important contribution the Indian Armed Forces make towards enhancing the readiness and capacity of the Maldivian security forces.
Minister Shahid and General Rawat also discussed the importance of taking into account the evolving nature of threats in today's world and the multi-faceted nature of the Maldives-India relationship.
The foreign minister was accompanied at the meeting by the Secretary, Multilateral Dr. Ali Naseer Mohamed and Defence Advisor of Maldives in India Colonel Ahmed Thohir.
Previously, General Rawat also paid a courtesy call on Minister of Defence Mariya Ahmed Didi and discussed on further enhancement of defence ties between the two countries. He also visited Senahiya Military Hospital where a medical team from the Indian Armed Forces is providing support in functioning the medical facility.
