Singaporean Ambassador pays farewell call on President

Ambassador of Singapore to Maldives Chua Thian Poh has made his farewell call upon President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. Chua Thian Poh has been Singapore’s accredited ambassador to Maldives for the past four years.

During the meeting held at the President’s Office, the president thanked the ambassador for the many services he has rendered during his ambassadorial tenure and for the singular contributions he has made to improving bilateral ties between the two countries. He further asked the ambassador to relay his gratitude to the Singaporean Government for the gracious hospitality that was accorded himself, First Lady Fazna Ahmed and the Maldivian delegation during his state visit to Singapore last July.

The president and ambassador recounted the many areas in which the Maldives and Singapore cooperate. Further, the Singaporean Government has long been an essential development partner, letting Maldives avail their considerable expertise in such spheres as housing, education and waste management, among others. The Singaporean Government has also made the generous decision to provide Maldives with a two-year technical assistance package on governance and sustainable development.

The ambassador’s efforts have been crucial to facilitating Singapore’s considerable engagements with Maldives. The ambassador expressed it has been his honour to represent his government to the Maldives.

The president, in turn, wished the ambassador all the best in his future endeavours.
