Indian Prime Minister Modi arrives in Maldives

Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi has arrived in Maldives on an official visit upon invitation of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. Upon his arrival Prime Minister Modi was received by Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid.

During his visit, Prime Minister Modi will meet senior delegations of the government including President Solih, Vice President Faisal Naseem, former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, leaders of government coalition and other political figures of the country separately and collectively.

Furthermore, President Solih has declared to present Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with the Order of the distinguished rule of Izzudeen, in recognition of the many services he has performed to cement the longstanding, amicable ties between the two countries, and for the magnanimous assistance that the Indian government has continued to provide the Maldives under Prime Minister Modi’s stewardship.

In addition, Maldives and India will sign 6 agreements in 5 different areas including cooperation in the field of health, capacity building programme for Maldivian civil servants, sharing wide shipping information between two countries, hydrography and ocean economy, cooperation of customs capacity building and cargo and passenger ferry services between Maldives and India.

Prime Minister Modi will depart to Sri Lanka following the trip to Maldives.
