Maldives officially signs framework agreement of ISA

Maldives have officially signed the Framework Agreement of International Solar Alliance (ISA). The agreement was signed by Minister of Environment Dr. Hussain Rasheed Hassan at a ceremony held at environment ministry.

Speaking at the ceremony held to sign the agreement, environment minister said it is an aim of the government to produce 70 percent of energy by renewable sources at times which consume the most electricity. He further revealed many efforts are exerted to minimize the dependent on fuel.

The International Solar Alliance is an alliance of more than 122 countries initiated by India and France. Vision and mission of ISA is to provide a dedicated platform for cooperation among solar resource rich countries where the global community, including bilateral and multilateral organizations, corporates, industry, and other stakeholders, can make a positive contribution to assist and help achieve the common goals of increasing the use of solar energy in meeting energy needs of prospective ISA member countries in a safe, convenient, affordable, equitable and sustainable manner.
