Ministry of Finance has stated the foreign aid to Maldives within the first 90 days of the current administration increased compared to the entire presidential term of the past administration.
Speaking on a programme aired on PSM News, the finance minister revealed the past administration received USD 127.5 million as foreign aid during the entire five-year term. However, according to Minister Ameer the foreign aid received by Maldives during the first three months of the administration of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has exceeded the amount. In this regard, he noted efforts are underway to enhance the financial situation of the country, adding the increased amount of foreign aid shows positivity towards the efforts exerted by the administration.
Moreover, the finance minister highlighted the huge amount of foreign aid provided by India. He said the increased amount of foreign aid have made it possible to focus on enhancing financial stability and conduct development projects.
At the meeting held to mark the 10-day countdown to the end of the government's first 100-working days, President Solih said the revenue received by the state amounted USD 323.7 million in the short period since assuming office. He noted it shows the progress brought to tourism and the economy of Maldives in the past 3 months.
