Efforts underway to introduce local tourism in Kulhudhuffushi

Kulhudhuffushi Island Council has revealed efforts are underway to introduce local tourism and enhance the sector.

Speaking to PSM News, President of Kulhudhuffushi Island Council Abdul Latheef Hassan said the council aims to introduce local tourism and enhance guesthouse businesses in the island. In this regard, Abdul Latheef Hassan noted completion and commencement of commercial operations of the airport will ease bringing tourists to the island. He further noted since Kulhudhuffushi embrace a rich culture, introduction of local tourism will boost the economy.

As soon as the permits are granted by the government, land plots will be leased for interested individuals, according to Kulhudhuffushi Island Council.

During the recent guesthouse symposium, Kulhudhuffushi Island Council requested Minister of Tourism Ali Waheed to embark on 3 projects, which are enhancing tourism in Haa Dhaalu Atoll with commencing resort operations in the area, slashing air fare for Hanimaadhoo and introducing local tourism in the area.
