Vice President inaugurates newly built mosque and Quran centre in Gadhdhoo

Vice President Faisal Naseem has inaugurated the newly built mosque in Gadhdhoo along with the Centre for Holy Quran established in the island.

Addressing the ceremony held to inaugurate the mosque and Quran centre as part of his trip to some islands of Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll, Vice President Faisal spoke on the efforts exerted by the administration to enhance the religion and the education sector. He noted several initiatives were announced in the presidential address delivered by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

Highlighting the initiative to establish branches of Centre for Holy Quran is embarked as part of the efforts to enhance individuals with Islamic knowledge, the vice president called on students and parents to make the best use of these centres in the atolls.

During the ceremony, an agreement was signed between Ministry of Islamic Affairs and Gadhdhoo Island Council.

Addressing the ceremony, Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Ahmed Zahir revealed several programmes conducted in Male' will be introduced in the Quran centre in Gadhdhoo. The operations of Centre for Holy Quran in Gadhdhoo will commence on February 17.

Moreover, the mosque, which can accommodate 900 worshippers, was built by the government.

Furthermore, vice president met with the island council and the citizens.
