Tourism Minister assures to solve challenges faced by guest houses

Minister of Tourism Ali Waheed has assured to firmly stand by solving challenges faced for guest house businesses. The tourism minister made the assurance at a meeting held with individuals engaged in guest house businesses in Rasdhoo, after inquiring about the challenges faced to them.

During the visit to Alifu Alifu Atoll, Minister Ali Waheed met with members of organisations and citizens. In the meetings, the minister inquired about the challenges faced in operating guest houses and revealed the tourism symposium will be held on December 29. The aim of the symposium is to provide a platform for guest house owners to discuss mutual issues, according to the minister.

After the meetings with guest house owners, the tourism minister highlighted most complaints were received regarding waste management, adding many other islands with local tourism raised the same issue. He stated various programmes and projects are planned to solve the issues regarding waste management.

In addition to guest house owners, Minister Ali Waheed monitored the dive centres in Rasdhoo. Furthermore, the minister visited the waste dumping site and the hospital to inquire about the treatments mostly given to tourists. Moreover, during the weekend trip to the island, he met with Alifu Alifu Atoll Council as well as Rasdhoo Island Council.
