President Abdul Yameen Abdul Gayoom and first lady Fathimath Ibrahim welcomed Prime Minister of Pakistan, Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Spouse, Begum Kalsoom Nawaz Sharif.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif Begum Kalsoom Nawaz Sharif was welcomed in an official welcoming ceremony held at the republic square. A bugle call was sounded on arrival of the Pakistani Prime Minister and Begum Kalsoom, after which President Yameen accompanied the visiting Prime Minister to the saluting dais, and a 7-Gun Salute was offered; followed by which the national anthems of Pakistan and Maldives were played.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif then proceeded to inspect a Guard of Honour by the Maldives National Defence Force. At the ceremony, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was introduced to the Vice President, Cabinet Ministers, and other senior officials of the Maldivian Government. The members of the Pakistani delegation were then introduced to President Yameen.
