Foreign Minister departs to the 44th IOC session

Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohamed Asim has departed for Abidjan to attend the 44th Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

This session is scheduled to take place in Côte d'Ivoire from the 10-11th of July. The Maldivian delegation is headed by Minister Asim. Additional Secretary Dr. Marium Jabyn and Desk Officer Ms. Aishath Fareena will accompany minister in this session. Minister Asim is set to deliver a statement at the council of Foreign Ministers.

The theme of this year's session is "Youth, Peace and Development in a World of Solidarity". The 44th Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers will also review the situation in Palestine, conflict situations in parts of the Muslim world, peace and security issues, Islamophobia, terrorism, humanitarian situations, and the situation of Muslim communities.

The Maldives became a member of the OIC on 26 July 1976. Since joining the OIC in 1976, Maldives has participated in all regular Summits and the Foreign Ministers Meetings.
