Maldives advances luxury tourism strategy with superyacht promotion campaign

Visit Maldives Corporation (VMC) has concluded its inaugural Superyacht Promotion Campaign, marking a significant step in its efforts to position the Maldives as a premier destination for luxury yacht tourism.

Launched in late 2025, the campaign aimed to engage high-net-worth individuals, yacht owners, charter brokers and key industry stakeholders. Central to the initiative was a strong presence at two major international yachting events; the MYBA Charter Show and the Monaco Yacht Show.

At both events, Visit Maldives showcased its superyacht offerings through tailored promotional materials, including a dedicated mini brochure and branded assets distributed directly to industry professionals and onboard vessels. The corporation said these engagements enabled direct interaction with decision-makers in the global yachting sector and helped raise awareness of the destination. Alongside its physical presence, the campaign featured a digital rollout under the theme “Superyacht Destination Maldives”. This included a dedicated content platform, targeted social media outreach and direct marketing to yacht captains and brokers, combining online promotion with on-the-ground activation.

Visit Maldives also took part in strategic initiatives such as the Superyacht Spice Route platform, aimed at strengthening the country’s visibility along key international maritime routes and reinforcing its position within elite yachting networks.

According to the organisation, performance tracking across digital channels, industry engagement and event participation showed strong results, with increased reach, inquiries and stakeholder interest following the two yacht shows.

Ibrahim Shiuree, Managing Director of VMC, said participation in globally recognised platforms had been “instrumental” in positioning the Maldives within the international superyacht circuit.

“These engagements allow us to directly connect with the global yachting community and strengthen our presence in this high-value segment,” he said.

Visit Maldives said it plans to build on this momentum by expanding its participation in international yacht shows, strengthening industry partnerships and continuing targeted campaigns to attract superyacht traffic, as part of a broader strategy to diversify its tourism offering and increase high-value visitor segments.
