The President has declared Sunday, 5 April, and Monday, 6 April 2026, as government holidays.
This decision follows a request from the Elections Commission of Maldives (ECM), as a significant number of civil servants and employees from various state institutions are actively engaged in duties related to the Local Council and Women’s Development Committee elections, as well as the public referendum held today.
According to the President’s Office, the additional holiday on Monday, 6 April, was also granted at the Commission’s request to facilitate essential post-election administrative work.
