Maldivian Launches December-January Routes to Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur for School Holidays

Maldivian, the national carrier, has announced the launch of seasonal international services to Bangkok, Thailand, and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in anticipation of increased travel demand during the December school holidays.

The airline will operate direct weekly flights to both destinations throughout December and January. This initiative continues Maldivian’s established practice of offering temporary routes to cities favoured by Maldivian travellers during school recess periods.

Flights to Kuala Lumpur will depart every Sunday, with return fares set at USD 335. Services to Bangkok are scheduled for Tuesdays, with round-trip tickets priced at USD 399. Both routes will be operated as non-stop services, and bookings are now open.

These additions temporarily extend Maldivian’s international footprint, which currently comprises scheduled operations to five cities across two countries, three in China and two in India.

The announcement also reflects the airline’s broader strategic ambitions. Maldivian recently disclosed plans to appoint an agent to support the expansion of services to South Korea, signalling its intent to enter new international markets and diversify its route portfolio.
