Hajj Corporation facilitates free vaccinations for Umrah pilgrims

Maldives Hajj Corporation has arranged for people travelling for Umrah to receive the required vaccinations free of charge at the health centre closest to them.

Previously, free vaccination services for Umrah pilgrims were available only in Male' City. In line with the assurance given by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu to Hajj pilgrims, the Hajj Corporation has now expanded the service to islands across the atolls ahead of the upcoming Umrah season in November.

The corporation said residents of Male' City can receive their vaccinations at Maafannu Urban Primary Health Centre. For those living outside Male' City, arrangements have been made for vaccinations to be administered free of charge at the nearest available health centre.

According to the Hajj Corporation, starting today, individuals can obtain a “vaccination request letter” through the corporation’s Faheli portal and present it at their nearest health centre or hospital to receive the vaccination without any additional charges.

In addition, the corporation said the same letter can be used to obtain the influenza vaccine free of charge from State Trading Organisation pharmacies.

The vaccinations required for individuals travelling for Hajj and Umrah include vaccines for influenza, meningitis and polio.

The Hajj Corporation said it is working with relevant government agencies and State Trading Organisation to make the service accessible to the public. The corporation described the initiative as an important step towards making travel arrangements easier and more convenient for Umrah and Hajj pilgrims.
