Male’ Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) has completed the water and sewerage project in Olhuvelifushi, Lhaviyani Atoll, the State owned utility company said Monday.
In a post shared on social media, Male’ Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) Managing Director Abdul Mateen Mohammed said the water and sewerage project in Olhuvelifushi has been completed along with the testing of the systems.
A main network of 9.71km long water pipes has been laid under the water system, in addition to two RO plants for water production.
In addition, three water storage tanks have been set up on the island and water meters have been installed and connected to the households.
Under the sewerage system, a 6.56km sewerage network and a 1.6km pumping line have been constructed along with an administrative building. The newly installed network also includes the four pumping stations in different parts of the island along with a sea outflow for sewage disposal.
The government funded project worth around USD5.2 million was launched on 18 December 2021.
