The Maldives Zakat House, in collaboration with ISRA Association Maldives, has delivered vital food aid to the war-affected people of Gaza, Palestine, using a portion of the funds collected as Fitr Zakat.
A total of USD 32,425 from the Fitr Zakat proceeds was allocated to prepare and distribute essential food packs to vulnerable families in Gaza. Each pack contains staple items such as flour, cooking oil, and canned food products—critical supplies amid the ongoing crisis and scarcity in the region.
ISRA Association Maldives, a civil society organisation dedicated to supporting Palestinian rights and delivering humanitarian aid, played a key role in coordinating the relief efforts.
This initiative underscores the Maldivian community’s deep commitment to global Islamic solidarity, particularly in response to the escalating humanitarian emergency in Gaza.
According to the Zakat House, over USD 972,762 was collected in Fitr Zakat this year—the highest amount recorded in the past three years—reflecting a surge in public generosity. The remaining funds have been distributed—a record USD 389 per head as Zakat al-Fitr to all registered poor and needy individuals this Ramdan.
