President confident that partnership with Malaysia will continue to strengthen

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has expressed confidence that the long-standing partnership between Maldives and Malaysia would continue to strengthen for the benefit of both countries. He made the remarks in his message of felicitation to the King of Malaysia Sultan Ibrahim, and Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, on the occasion of Malaysia's Independence Day.

In separate letters sent to the King and Prime Minister of Malaysia, President Dr Muizzu took note of the partnership between the Maldives and Malaysia. He noted that the partnership is based on mutual respect, shared principles, and enduring people-to-people ties.

The President also extended his best wishes for the King and Prime Minister's good health and well-being. He also extended wishes for the continued progress and prosperity of the people of Malaysia.

Malaysia's Independence Day is celebrated annually on August 31, in commemoration of the Federation of Malaya gaining independence from the British Empire 1957. This year, the country is celebrating its 67th Independence Day.
