STO Hotel building in Hulhumale’ taken over by state

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has disclosed that the STO Hotel building in Hulhumale’ has been taken over by the state. Disclosing this at the function held to mark the Independence Day, the President stated that some of the floors of the building will be used as a media village.

Speaking at the function, President Muizzu stated that the floors will be given to medias at a reasonable price, under a set guideline. He noted that quality studios of various sizes would be developed and made available for the medias. He noted that the work of this media village will be done within a year.

Establishing a media village is among the presidential pledges of President Muizzu. As such, he has assured that the government will pay special attention to the establishment of the media village and education and training opportunities for those working in the media.

The STO Hotel in Hulhumale’ was being developed as a five-star hotel. The construction of the building located in the first phase of Hulhumale’ was halted and delayed for various reasons. The hotel was being developed under an agreement with Radisson Blu.
