BML housing project to provide safe and affordable homes: BUCG

The Bank of Maldives (BML) Affordable Housing Project is an important initiative to provide safe, modern and affordable housing for citizens, Zhang Suoquan, Special Envoy of the Chairman of the Beijing Urban Construction Group (BUCG) has said.

He made the statement while speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony and commencement of physical works for 1,190 housing units in Hulhumale’ Phase II under the BML Affordable Housing Project, officiated by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu.

In his remarks, Zhang Suoquan said housing is the foundation of a happy life, adding that the project being undertaken is fully in line with the national housing policy under the strong leadership of President Muizzu.

He further said the project is not just a nominal initiative, but a significant initiative to provide safe, modern and affordable housing to the citizens. He thanked the Maldivian government for its confidence and cooperation, stating that BUCG believes that the project will ease housing costs in the urban area and improve the quality of life of the people.

Highlighting BUCG’s key projects over the years, he cited the runway at Velana International Airport, the world-class seaplane terminal as well as Madivaru Airport as major engineering achievements of the company. These projects have created thousands of jobs in the Maldives’ tourism industry and contributed significantly to the economy, he said. He addd that the company is proud that its work has brought tangible benefits to the people of the Maldives in terms of economy and convenience of life.
