8 appointed delegates approved by the Parliament

The Foreign Relations Committee of the Parliament has approved eight out of ten ambassadors/high commissioners appointed by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

The approved ambassadors appointed by President Dr. Muizzu are as follows:

- High Commissioner of the Maldives to the United Kingdom, Dr. Iruthisham Adam
- Ambassador of the Maldives to the United Nations, Dr. Ali Naseer Mohamed
- High Commissioner of the Maldives to Sri Lanka, Masood Imad
-High Commissioner of the Maldives to Malaysia, Dr. Mariyam Shabeena Ahmed
- Ambassador of the Maldives to the Kingdom of Belgium, Geela Ali
- Ambassador of the Maldives to the United Nations in Geneva, Dr. Salma Rasheed
- High Commissioner of the Maldives to Singapore, Mohamed Luweiz

The Foreign Relations Committee revealed that two of the appointed delegates were not interviewed due to inconsistencies in their court documents. Hence, the Parliament did not cast any votes for approval. The appointed delegates who were not approved are; Ambassador of the Maldives to China, Former Governor Dr. Fazeel Najeeb and High Commissioner of the Maldives to Bangladesh Shuineen Rasheed.

President Dr. Muizzu has expressed his concern over the delaying approval for the appointed delegates.
