43 individuals graduate from National Apprenticeship Programme

43 young apprentices have successfully graduated from the National Apprenticeship Programme, an initiative led by the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Information and Arts. The programme aims to equip youth with valuable skills and knowledge through expert training, enabling them to gain experience in various fields.

Minister of Youth Empowerment, Information and Arts Ibrahim Waheed presided the graduation ceremony, where certificates were presented to the programme graduates. The National Apprenticeship Programme is conducted in collaboration with Marriott International and follows the guidelines set by the Maldives National Skills Development Authority.

The primary objective of the programme is to provide individuals of all ages with the opportunity to acquire recognised qualifications accepted by the government. By doing so, the programme aims to reduce reliance on foreign workers in the Maldives while encouraging the participation of skilled local youth in the labor market. Additionally, it emphasises the importance of self-sufficiency and integrity in the workforce.

So far, 21 out of the 43 graduates have secured employment opportunities. The programme covers six main industries, including tourism, transportation, construction, social services, agriculture, fisheries, and arts.

Overall, the National Apprenticeship programme plays a vital role in developing the skills and capabilities of Maldivian youth, contributing to their professional growth and the country's economic development.
