Maldives supports all efforts made by China to achieve national reunification

Maldives has reiterated its unwavering commitment to the one-China principle, solidifying its strong ties with the People's Republic of China. The Maldives made the remark in a statement issued following elections in Taiwan region.

The statement by Ministry of Foreign Affairs cited the Joint Communique issued at the conclusion of the State Visit to China by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu. As such, it noted the communique unequivocally stated that "there is but one China in the world, the Government of the People's Republic of China is the sole legal government representing the whole of China, and Taiwan is an inalienable part of China's territory".

The statement also noted the Maldives also opposes any statement or action that undermines China's sovereignty and territorial integrity. President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, in a show of solidarity, expressed the Maldives' opposition to all "Taiwan independence" separatist activities. Maldives has also taken a decisive stand against developing any form of official relations with Taiwan, aligning its foreign policy with the one-China principle.

Moreover, the Maldives has conveyed its strong disapproval of external interference in China's internal affairs under any pretext. The nation has pledged support for all efforts made by China to achieve national reunification, reiterating its commitment to non-interference in the domestic matters of sovereign nations.
