President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has mandated the continuous display of the national flag at the residences and on the cars of cabinet ministers.
At a press conference, Under Secretary for Public Policy at the President's Office Mohamed Firzul emphasised President Muizzu's commitment to restoring the respect for the national flag as an all-encompassing symbol for the solidarity of Maldivians, the state, and the country. As such, he said that President made the decision to continuously display the flag at government offices as well as the residences and cars of cabinet ministers. He added the purpose of the decision is to uphold the honour and dignity of the national flag and build a generation that is proud of their heritage.
President Muizzu earlier mandated the continuous hoisting of the national flag at all government institutions. Traditionally, the national flag was raised from 0600hrs to 1800hrs daily.
The decision, articulated in President Dr Muizzu's inaugural address delivered upon assuming office, underscores the commitment to a continuous display of the national flag. He emphasised that the sun will now never set on this esteemed symbol, which will proudly flutter in every island of the Maldives.
Moreover, President Muizzu announced initiating a national project to rekindle patriotism to preserve and pass on the national identity to future generations. He emphasised that this endeavour to rejuvenate a sense of nationhood will cultivate and nourish the emotional, spiritual, and meaningful connections that bind the Maldivian people together.
