The Auditor General's Office (AGO) has stated that it will conduct 346 audits next year.
Director at AGO Mohamed Shan presented their annual work plan for next year during a meeting with the Parliamentary Committee on Public Accounts. He said that the AGO will focus on conducting audits related to the financial statements of the government, public debt and guarantees, the state's fiscal strategies as well as the ministries and entities.
The 2024 Annual Work Plan includes 294 financial and compliance audits, 39 audit reviews, five special audits, four performance audits, and four audits of information systems. The audits will be conducted on local councils, state agencies, and 39 state-owned companies as well as 30 government projects three public funds.
The annual work plan includes special audits on the fuel stock of State Trading Organisation (STO) and Fuel Supply Maldives (FSM). Audits will also be conducted on the SME Development Finance Corporation (SDFC), Maldives State Shipping (MSS), and the Regional Airports Company Limited (RACL) as well as the Floating City.
