President establishes Office of the President-elect

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has established the Office of the President-elect under the Presidential Transition Act, aiming to facilitate the President-elect in executing his duties and responsibilities during the government transition.

The establishment of this office was announced in a directive issued by the President's Office. The directive mandates that crucial information about government agencies be prepared for the president-elect to ensure a smooth power transfer that does not disrupt government operations or interrupt services provided by the government to the citizens.

Government agencies are instructed to transmit documents to the Office of the President-elect via the Government E-Letter Management System (GEMS). President Solih has also implored all personnel appointed by him to continue performing their assigned duties and responsibilities until the conclusion of his current presidential term.

The Civil Services Commission (CSC) recently appointed Abdul Raheem Abdullah as the Director-General of Transition, following the stipulations of the Presidential Transition Act. As per the law, the Director-General of Transition would supervise all matters pertaining to the government transition. In addition, President Solih designated Hussain Amir, Secretary of Corporate Services at the President's Office, to manage the transition on behalf of the President's Office.
