The government of Japan has assured it will provide its complete support for the new administration. The remark was made by the Ambassador of Japan to the Maldives Takeuchi Midori during a meeting with President-elect Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
During the meeting, discussions focused on enhancing bilateral relations and exploring avenues for increasing cooperation between the two countries. President-elect Muizzu thanked Japan for its continuous efforts to provide assistance to the Maldives in various fields. He described Japan as a close ally of the Maldives and said that Maldivians hold the people and government of Japan in high regard. In addition, he expressed hope that this closeness would be further expanded and strengthened during his term and that the government of Japan would provide assistance in his administration's efforts to fulfill his pledges.
In her response, Ambassador Takeuchi assured that the Japanese government will give its full support and assistance in the development of the Maldives in various fields.
