President clarifies MDP not introducing new pledges, but rather details

Presidential Candidate of the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, recently addressed concerns regarding the party's campaign promises during a rally held in Male'. He said the announcements being made by the MDP are not introducing new commitments but rather highlighting existing pledges outlined in the government's manifesto.

In response to allegations that the MDP is making numerous promises in relation to the upcoming election, President Solih clarified that these commitments are not new but rather a detailed exposition of the promises originally set forth in the manifesto. Among these commitments is the intention to increase the purchase price of fish from local fishermen. President Solih also stated his commitment to augmenting allowances and facilitating housing for the people.

Furthermore, President Solih acknowledged that substantial efforts have been undertaken over the past two weeks to gain a deeper understanding of the specific needs within various sectors. He highlighted his meetings with representatives from the fields of education, healthcare, fisheries, tourism, business, youth, sports, and environmental conservation.
