Maldives and Guyana sign visa waiver agreement

The Maldives and Guyana have signed the agreement on mutual exemption of visa requirements. The agreement allows for the exemption of visas for single or multiple entry for citizens of both countries for a period of 30 days.

The Maldives and Guyana also signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Political Consultations, to establish a framework for expanding cooperation and exchanges in areas of mutual interest. The agreements were signed by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Ahmed Khaleel and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Guyana Hugh Hilton Todd.

During the discussions following the signing ceremony, State Minister Khaleel expressed his gratitude to Minister Todd and the government of Guyana for their commitment to enhancing the cooperation between the two countries and desire to continue to explore new avenues for collaboration. He also expressed hope that the signing of these agreements will deepen the engagements and facilitate greater people-to-people contact.
