The Elections Commission of the Maldives (ECM) has printed the required ballot papers for the second round of the presidential election and is currently in the process of organising and packing them.
Ballot papers are inspected following the printing process and then packaged, taking into account the specific number required for each ballot box based on the voters' list. The regulations require that each ballot box receive a surplus of ballot papers, exceeding the actual number of voters by 1%.
A total of 282,803 individuals are eligible to cast votes for the second round of the presidential election on September 30. ECM stated that the new voters' list includes 408 new names of individuals who will be eligible to vote in the second round. The voters' list for the first round included 282,395 with over 27,000 new voters. ECM placed 574 ballot boxes at polling stations on the first round and has decided to place an additional box at polling stations with more than 500 registered voters in the second round.
