DNR urges voters to renew ID card soon

Department of National Registration (DNR) has urged voters to renew their national identification (ID) cards before September 21.

To be eligible to vote in the second round of the presidential election, individuals must submit their ID renewal application before it expires prior to the election date. In addition, those who have recently turned 18 are also advised to apply for a new card soon.

DNR made the request in order to avoid voters submitting applications to renew their ID cards at the same time. DNR also stated that applications that are submitted close to the election might not be processed in time. As such, DNR requested voters to submit their application by 1400hrs on September 21. Applications can be submitted online at any time, while the DNR counter will only accept applications during official working hours.

The voters' list includes 408 new names of individuals who will be eligible to vote in the second round of the presidential election on September 30. The voters' list for the first round included 282,395 with over 27,000 new voters. DNR received many applications for ID card renewals prior to the first round.
