President pledges to expand local tourism in Thaa Atoll

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has pledged to expand local tourism in Thaa Atoll in his second term.

At a campaign event in Thimarafushi, President Solih highlighted his administration's plan to expand the tourism industry to all parts of the country. He noted that Thaa Atoll has very few resorts but that local tourism can be developed by building a city hotel in Hiriyanfushi and developing Kanimeedhoo as a resort island. He added that the expansion of tourism in the atoll will also assist in the effective operation of the regional airport.

Additionally, President Solih detailed his development plan for Thimarafushi, which include opening the fish processing facility in Funaddu and allowing local fishermen to conveniently receive ice and fuel. He also pledged to develop the harbour.
