Maavarulu Airport to begin night flights in three weeks

Regional Airports Company Limited (RACL) has stated that it is preparing to operate night flights to Maavarulu Airport in the next three weeks.

The airport developed in Maavarulu in Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll was opened in July 2020. Currently, RACL is installing runway lighting for night operations and the work is expected to be finished in three weeks, enabling night flights to commence.

During the ceremony to inaugurate night flight services at Hoarafushi Airport, Managing Director at RACL Mohamed Rizvi announced that the night flight service will soon be launched at Maavarulu Airport as well.

RACL is currently in the process of making final preparations to introduce nighttime flight services at Maavarulu Airport, which is expected to bring a significant boost to tourism in the region. A total of four out of the six airports operated by RACL currently conduct night flights. They include airports in Hanimaadhoo and Kulhudhuffushi in Haa Dhaalu Atoll, Faresmaathoda in Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll, and Fuvahmulah Airport.
