Over 145,000 tourist arrivals recorded in July

Ministry of Tourism has revealed that more than 145,000 tourists visited the Maldives in July 2023.

The statistics from the tourism ministry show that a total of 145,629 tourists arrived in July, which is a 9% increase compared to the 133,561 arrivals recorded in the same month in 2022. The statistics also showed that a total of 1,086,074 tourists visited the Maldives as of July 2 this year, which is an increase of 13.7% compared to the same period last year. The positive trend of increasing arrivals began in July after a decline in May and June, indicating a promising recovery for the tourism industry in the country.

The largest number of tourists visited the Maldives from Russia with 128،404 arrivals, while 123،151 tourists visited from India, 94،476 visited from China, 90،897 visited from the United Kingdom (UK), and 73،318 visited from Germany. A total of 1,257 tourist establishments are open in the Maldives, consisting of 61,564 beds.

The government aims to welcome 1.9 million tourists in 2023 and break last year’s record of 1.6 million tourists.
