President inaugurates development projects in Haa Alifu Atoll

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has inaugurated the completion of several development projects during his visit to Haa Alifu Atoll.

As such, President Solih officially inaugurated the football ground in Thuraakunu during his visit to the island. The newly inaugurated football ground is equipped with modern amenities, including turf installation. The project was contracted to Myna Sports Field Private Limited.

Before inaugurating the football ground, President Solih also inaugurated the children’s park on the island. This park, built by the administration, is part of their ongoing efforts to provide opportunities for people of all ages to live healthy, active, and dignified lives.

Additionally, President Solih inaugurated the completion of the water and sewerage project, the new powerhouse, and the Fenaka Office in Uligan during his visit to the island. Static Company Private Limited implemented the water and sewerage project, which addresses challenges faced by residents in accessing clean drinking water and sanitation services. The powerhouse is equipped with modern facilities and is located away from the residential area. It can generate 458KW of electricity.

Furthermore, President Solih visited Molhadhoo and inaugurated the harbour, new powerhouse, and Fenaka Office in the island. The newly opened harbour measures 645 feet in length and 250 feet in width. The new harbour is expected to facilitate transportation to and from the island, addressing many challenges previously faced by the residents.

President Solih officially opened the new powerhouse and Fenaka Office in a separate ceremony. The new powerhouse is approximately three times larger than the previous one, and the Fenaka Office, which previously accommodated four staff members, can now accommodate 30. These developments are part of the administration’s ongoing efforts to improve electricity services on islands nationwide.

Under the leadership of President Solih, the administration has made significant progress towards achieving equitable development across all inhabited islands in the Maldives. This includes improving the quality of life for citizens and empowering them to lead dignified lives.
