Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated that visa on arrival will be granted to Maldivian nationals travelling to Egypt without having to obtain a visa in advance.
The foreign ministry stated that the decision was made by the government of Egypt to grant the on arrival tourist visa to all Maldivian passport holders to enter and stay in Egypt for a maximum period of 30 days from the day of their entry with a visa fee of USD25.
The ministry also stated that Maldivians intending to stay for a longer period or wishing to travel to Egypt for work or to attend an educational institution or to conduct business, will need to obtain an appropriate visa prior to their travel.
The Maldives considers this momentous decision Egypt as a testament to the close and historic relations between the two countries and the high regard accorded to the Maldives by Egypt.
