Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid has arrived on an official visit to New Delhi, India. He was received at the Indhira Gandhi International Airport by High Commissioner of the Maldives to India Ibrahim Shaheeb and senior officials of the Ministry of External Affairs of India.
During his visit, Minister Shahid met with his counterpart Minister of External Affairs of India Dr. S. Jaishankar and is scheduled to meet other senior government officials and hold discussions on strengthening the traditionally close relations between the Maldives and India. He will also be delivering the 43rd Sapru House Lecture (SHL) at the Indian Council for World Affairs and meet with a number of ambassadors and high commissioners accredited to the Maldives based in New Delhi.
The visit signifies the strengthening of the bilateral ties between both countries as several Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) are to be exchanged in the field of socioeconomic cooperation.
