Gov't contracts to build harbours in Noomaraa and Eydhafushi

Ministry of National Planning, Housing, and Infrastructure has contracted the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) to construct harbours in Noomaraa in Shaviyani Atoll, and Eydhafushi in Baa Atoll The agreement was signed by Permanent Secretary of Planning Ministry Zeeniya Ahmed Hameed and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of MTCC Adam Azim.

As per the agreement, MTCC is tasked with developing the Noomaraa harbour with 5,100cbm maintenance dredging operations, 34,400cbm new harbor basin dredging operations, 2,920cbm channel dredging operations, 302m breakwater, 64m revetment, 177m quay wall, 32m existing quay wall repair, mooring bouys, a ramp, two jetties, harbour lights, 1,700sqm pavement, and 311m curbs. The value of the project is USD3.7 million and the project is to be completed within 455 days.

The state-owned company will also be developing the Eydhafushi harbour with 28,000cbm maintenance dredging operations, 3,400cbm channel dredging operations, 170m breakwater, 383m revetment, 402m quay wall, a ramp, a bridge, harbor lights, 1,800sqm pavement, and 402m curbs. The value of the project is USD4.5million and the project is to be completed within 450 days.
