MPS urges to secure homes during Eid holidays

The Maldives Police Service (MPS) has advised individuals to secure homes and properties before leaving for the Eid al-Adha holidays.

Speaking to PSM New, Chief Inspector of Police Adam Mueen said that valuables should be kept safe before leaving for the holidays. He said it is important to make sure that the windows are shut, water lights are properly switched off, and replace locks on doors if damaged. He also said that it is wise to consider a potential house fire and check gas cylinders for any leaks as a precaution or unplug the gas cylinder regulator before leaving for the holidays. Additionally, he said to check the electrical status before leaving so that there is no power shortage, adding it is a vital step to avoid a potentially dangerous incident.

Furthermore, Chief Inspector Mueen said that it is also important for individuals to share information with MPS before leaving for the holidays. He said that the MPS will inspect the houses closely once information is submitted to the portal. He also stressed that individuals should deposit money into their accounts instead of keeping it at home before leaving for the holidays.

It is important for individuals to take all possible measures to protect homes and properties from potential danger. These measures will greatly reduce the number of dangerous incidents that might take place.
